Brittlebush lines the highway from Rainbow Canyon down to Panamint Valley, in Death Valley National Park. Death Valley is a very different place in March than during the heat of the summer. The El Nino rains during the winter of 2015-16 fed a super-bloom of wildflowers. The colorful brittlebush have taken root along the road's edge, blooming for but a week or so before they hunker down for the hot spring and summer. The main floor of Death Valley lies beyond the mountain range in the distance.
